Pickles the Monkey hits Canterbury!

IF YOU catch a ride from one enterprising taxi firm, you could end up sharing your cab with Pickles the Monkey.
But bosses at Longleys Private Hire are confident customers will not mind the company, as Pickles will give anyone who meets him a free journey.

The friendly monkey will be in cabs every day and will switch cars whenever he's polished off the drivers packed lunch. His itinerary means he could be anywhere in the district at any time.
David George, of Longleys, said: "Pickles the monkey is just one way we are trying to give a little something back to our loyal customers, and have a little fun along the way."

Tipping the night fantastic - Longleys drop extra charge at night!

Fare-minded bosses at Longleys Private Hire in Canterbury have bucked the trend when it comes to charging extra for late night journeys.

David George who runs Longleys Private Hire, said: "The local Hackney Drivers association lobbied the city council for a rate increase and to bring forward the time at which they can charge the passenger 50 per cent more - from midnight to 11pm."

He added: "As nobody in the community objected, then the council had no choice but to agree to the Hackney Drivers' demands. We decided that it wasn't the right thing to do in the public interest and Longleys Private Hire subsequently abolished all extra charges at night and at the weekend - I think this demonstrates the commitment Longleys has to the local community in Canterbury."

Longleys Private Hire does not charge extra for traveling at night or on Sundays.
