What can I expect from an airport transfer with Longleys?
Take the stress out of getting to the airport ahead of your trip by booking a reliable airport transfer with us. When you book with Longleys you can expect the following:
Professional and friendly drivers
All of our drivers are fully licensed with Canterbury City Council and have each been thoroughly assessed by us to ensure you receive the very best service. They also undergo enhanced DBS, medical and safeguarding training for your peace of mind.
Clean, well-maintained and safe vehicles
We source our vehicles directly from the manufacturer so we know their history and have confidence in their reliability. We take great pride in the presentation and performance of our vehicles: from fitting premium tyres to manufacturer servicing using genuine parts. They are valeted and checked for road-worthiness on a daily basis and undergo weekly safety and compliance checks. For added reassurance, we fit all of our vehicles with Dash Cams and a system which monitors the speed and driving style on your journey. Your safety and comfort is of paramount importance to us.
How does an airport transfer with Longleys actually work?
When you make a booking with Longleys Private Hire, you can feel confident that you are booking with a long-standing family business, with years of experience. We are experts in arranging airport transfers and the process will be handled as follows.
Booking
When you make a booking with us, we’ll ask for your flight number so we will be able to track your progress.
If you’d prefer not to rush through the terminal, just tell us to aim for a set number of minutes after your flight touches down. We call this a ‘stand-off’ time. This can be as little as 15 minutes, or as much as you feel comfortable with - some people like to arrive, grab a shower and a snack in a lounge, and then meet their driver a couple of hours later. It’s entirely up to you.
Your airport transfer price is fixed and already includes an allowance for parking charges. The only thing that can affect the price is if our driver spends more than 30 minutes in the terminal, but, with good communication, this rarely happens.
We will require pre-payment of the expected fare before we accept a Meet and Greet booking.
We reserve the right to charge you extra if the driver is kept waiting.
On the day
Switch your phone on when you land. We will have sent you a tracking link, so you can see how the driver is getting on. At this point you can call the office, if you’d like to update us.
When the driver is nearby, they will call you. At this point you can let them know if things are a little sticky at the airport (if you’ve chosen a longer stand off time, you won’t feel the pressure).
Your driver must park in the designated area (Short Term Parking). It takes about 5 minutes for the driver to walk to the arrivals area, but they will call you at this point, making it easier for you to locate each other.
Unexpected delays
If there is an unexpected delay, please let us know as soon as you can. We understand that things can go wrong and we’re happy to help. We’ll work with you to help minimise any extra charges.
Waiting Time is counted from the end of our agreed ‘stand-off period’. We then allow a further 30 minutes before we begin any additional charge. Therefore, if you ask us to ‘stand-off’ for 30 minutes, you have up to 60 minutes before the driver will charge you any extra.
In the event of a cancellation
If you choose to cancel your transfer before the driver is dispatched, we can either credit your payment towards another booking (no charge) or we can issue a refund. If a refund is required, we will retain 5% of the fare as a cancellation charge.
If you cancel the transfer after the driver has been dispatched, we are afraid no refund will be possible.

Although it is your responsibility to allow enough time to make your way to the airport, check in and board the flight, we can help you to estimate the journey time so we pick you up at a time when is most suitable. Most commercial airlines suggest you arrive at the airport two hours before your scheduled departure time.
Whilst we endeavour to drop you off at the airport with ample time before your flight, we cannot be held responsible for unexpected traffic delays or road closures, so please do allow plenty of time.
Meet and Greet (Flight Arrivals)
We understand that meeting a taxi at the airport can be stressful, particularly if your flight is delayed. Our drivers understand this can happen and we have great experience in preparing for such situations. Just call our office if a delay occurs.
